  • Inspiration behind this painting:-

    During October in the Scilly Isles, feeling a tad fed up, I took a walk around the coastal path walk to cheer myself up. On my walk, with Christmas fast approaching, I pondered my next oil painting subject. A (seasonal) reindeer, I thought, but where on earth could I find one to paint?
    I kid you not, around the very next corner, there stood two reindeer in a pen! What are the chances? I pinched myself to see if I was dreaming and glanced around, bewildered! Indeed, right there before me stood a reindeer and his mate! Proud and upright, not moving an inch, almost daring me to approach.
    To this day, I have no idea why they were there or who owns them. I'm still not convinced they weren't a figment of my imagination but I'll never know.
