Have you ever wished someone would simply tell you what to do; not because you could not decide, but because you were afraid of making the wrong choice?
Read the full details of this painting...

A young woman sits quietly in a garden filled with beauty and possibility, trying to hear her own voice above the expectations and opinions of others.

Perhaps she is choosing between two futures, two relationships, or the safe path and the one she truly longs to follow. There may be no perfect answer, only the choice that feels honest to her.

Inscribed upon the rock beside her are Shakespeare’s words:

“This above all: to thine own self be true.”

The words do not tell her what to choose. They remind her whose life it is.

A red admiral butterfly rests nearby. It may represent hope, transformation, reassurance or someone loved and lost. Its meaning is left for the viewer to decide.

Be True is a one-of-a-kind original figurative oil painting about self-trust, difficult choices and the courage to follow your own path.

Lorraine Field Artist painting 'Rinsey Rockpools' oil painting

    About the Artist

I'm Lorraine, a British oil painter and I create oil paintings for people who want their home to feel like somewhere they can truly exhale.

My paintings are often inspired by the sea, the countryside and those small, easily missed moments that end up meaning the most.

    A shift in light.

    A place that feels familiar.

A feeling you can't quite put into words, but you know it when you see it.

Painting has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, but after cancer and some life-changing chapters, I came back to it differently.

    More honestly.

    More intentionally.

Now, every piece I create is about connection.

To a memory, to a feeling, or simply to a quieter way of living.

If something here makes you pause, there's usually a reason.
