The Sky Really Was That Purple | Porthmeor, St Ives

I painted this view of Porthmeor Beach some time ago. The sky was such an extraordinary purple that I wondered whether anyone who hadn’t been there would believe it was real.

Then my cousin sent me a photograph from the apartment where we’d had dinner, overlooking that very beach. There it was again: the purple Porthmeor sky.
