Three friendly horses welcomed me as I walked a route across their sloping field at Wilmcote. At the top of the field, I stood to admire the surrounding scenery. As the breeze gently brushed my hair from my face I became aware of an exuding sense of calm.
After seeking the kind permission of the land owner, I returned, two days later to paint the horses 'en plein air'. My first ever attempt at being so bold! With strong winds blowing around me, I began, determined to put brush to canvas.
Oh how I longed to sing at the top of my voice! 'The Hills are Alive....!" Pure pride and pleasure! To absorb the thrill of Shakespeare's countryside and paint at the same time! "I'm an artist! I'm an artist!" Sheer bliss, I could've cried happy tears!
